Plot:
"The story will take place in 2010 in Koganei, western Tokyo and like the novel will revolve around a group of creatures that live under the floorboards, and where a friendship is created between a human and the borrower Arrietty"

I'm definitely fan of Studio Ghibli's The Borrower Arrietty! Let's hope that this trailer of the Borrower Arrietty will soon be available in English!

Borrower Arrietty Movie Characters

Here below the characters we're going to meet in Studio Ghibli's Borrower Arrietty movie:

ARRIETTY (Borrower) The 14-year-old Borrower protagonist. She lives with her parents under the floorboards of the old house where Shō's mother was raised.

SHO (Human) The 12-year-old human boy who becomes Arrietty's friend. He meets Arrietty while recuperating from an illness at the old house in which his mother was raised.

HOMILY (Borrower) Arrietty's mother.

SADAKO (Human) The younger sister of Shō's grandmother. This movie's version of Great Aunt Sophy.

POD (Borrower) Arrietty's father

Spiller (Borrower) A 12 year old Borrower boy

HARU (Human) Sadako's maid. This movie's version of Rosa Pickhatchet.

Borrower Arrietty Theme Song

THE BORROWER ARRIETTY - Arriety's Song by Cecile Corbel
The music for the film was composed by French celtic harpist/singer Cecile Corbel, who has released the main theme song, titled Arriety's Song, in both Japanese and English. Cecile Corbel came to the attention of Ghibli filmmakers when she sent them a fan letter showing her appreciation of their films, and after hearing a CD of her music she sent to them, they thought she would be perfect for composing the music for their next movie. What a great story behind the theme song of the Borrower Arrietty!

Borrower Arrietty Movie by Studio Ghibli

The Borrower Arrietty (Japanese title: Karigurashi no Arrietty)is an upcoming animated movie by Studio Ghibly, the successful Japanese animation studio. The film will be based on the fantasy novel The Borrowers by Mary Norton, but the story will take place in modern-day Tokyo instead of London. The Borrower Arrietty will be directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi following a script by Hayao Miyazaki. The Japanese release of The Borrower Arrietty has been set for July 17, 2010. There's no official US release date yet.

Plot:
"The Borrowers is about a family of very tiny people (ie. small enough to live under floorboards) and their interactions with the regular human beings who live above. The title comes from the name for these people, as they 'borrow' things from the humans as a way of life. The lead character is Arrietty, a fourteen year old girl."

I really look forward to seeing how Ghibli's fresh new take on this classic tale. I bet it's gonna be a great movie!
